Supporters of Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado held demonstrations across Latin America ahead of next week’s Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
Marches took place in cities including Lima, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Bogotá, where participants carried Venezuelan flags, portraits of Machado and signs celebrating the award.
Organisers said similar rallies were expected in dozens of cities worldwide. Many attendees described the prize as a symbol of hope for Venezuela’s pro-democracy movement.
