Timeline of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Relationship With Royals

On May 2, Harry lost his legal challenge requesting automatic security for his family when they visit the UK.

In a statement shared with BI, Harry said “this legal action has been a last resort, but one that has uncovered shocking truths,” pointing to the role the Royal Household plays in decisions made by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC). He also said he, Meghan, and their children continue to be the subject of “neo-Nazi and extremist threats,” putting them in danger without ample security.

“The UK is my birthplace and will always be part of who I am,” he said. “It is a place I love, and the country where my son was born. I’ve only ever wanted to continue my charitable work in supporting the causes and people that mean so much to me, and for my children to know the beauty of my homeland.”

Harry also discussed the ruling and how his security issues have affected his relationship with the royals in an interview with BBC News, saying he “can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”

He also discussed his rift with his family with BBC News, saying he “would love a reconciliation” with them but that his battle for security in the UK is “the sticking point” in their relationship.

“Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. They will never forgive me for lots of things,” he said, adding that King Charles isn’t speaking to him “because of this security stuff.”

“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he said.
