Terence Stamp, the veteran British actor who performed Basic Zod in Christopher Reeve’s Superman movies, and later earned a BAFTA for his portrayal of a trans girl in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, has died on the age of 87.
“He leaves behind a rare physique of labor, each as an actor and as a author that can proceed to the touch and encourage folks for years to come back,” Stamp’s household stated stated in an announcement saying his passing on Sunday, August seventeenth. “We ask for privateness at this unhappy time.
Stamp’s different notable on-screen credit included Billy Budd, his 1962 movie debut for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Finest Supporting Actor; the lead function in Steven Soderbergh’s 1999 crime thriller The Limey; and as Chancellor Finis Valorum in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Extra not too long ago, Stamp appeared in such movies as Valkyrie, Massive Eyes, The Adjustment Bureau, Miss Peregrine’s House for Peculiar Kids, and Final Night time in Soho. And in a callback to his work within the Superman movies, he portrayed Clark Kent’s organic father, Jor-El, in 23 episodes of the CW sequence Smallville.
