For three years running, Paramount+ has practically revolved around Taylor Sheridan
’s brand Western sagas, war sagas, and crime sagas. From Yellowstone and its several prequel shows, including 1883, then 1923, to his oil magnate thriller series, Landman, the CIA yarn Special Ops: Lioness, and Sylvester Stallone-led Tulsa King, it has been impossible to spit without flecking on the shoes of one of Sheridan’s babies in the Paramount+ Top 10. However, it looks like that streak is finally over, as the Grand Duke of Paramount+ has only one entry on the chart right now.
Week after week, at least four Sheridan creations dominated the service’s Top 10, but currently only the recent release of 1923 is hanging in at number six, while the top of the chart is now headed up by CBS series Fire Country
, and Tom Hardy’s new crime saga MobLand
in first and second place, respectively. Having seen Sheridan’s work constantly at the top of the charts, seemingly forever, this changing of the guard is a reminder that nothing lasts forever in the world of streaming – even for the mighty Taylor Sheridan.

Not only have these films been celebrated by audiences and critics alike, but they also make up the best trilogy of the past 15 years.
Fire Country is a procedural about Californian firefighters, and joined Paramount+ as a retrospective addition following its original airing on CBS. With a spinoff series now taking shape, it is possibly not surprising that fans have taken the opportunity to binge their way through the available episodes now that they are available on demand.
MobLand, meanwhile, arrived on Paramount+ as a high-profile gritty gangster drama from Guy Ritchie and starring British heavyweight Tom Hardy. The series did not quite live up to expectations of critics, but soared on its debut, immediately landing the number one position for several days.
Is Taylor Sheridan’s Reign Over at Paramount+?
The combined success of Fire Country, MobLand, and several other popular titles doesn’t mean Sheridan’s empire is in danger; 1923 is still going strong on the charts, and despite Yellowstone being at an end, Sheridan has several more spinoffs already in the works. Even without his sprawling Western saga, Sheridan’s name is also attached to second seasons of Landman and Lioness, as well as the third season of Tulsa King in production. Add in Jeremy Renner vehicle, Mayor of Kingstown, and those waiting for Sheridan’s downfall are going to have to wait a lot longer for that outcome.
Sheridan’s output hasn’t slowed in recent years, and he has built himself quite an empire at Paramount. Even though there have been recent suggestions that Sheridan’s time with the streamer could be in jeopardy as they look to reduce budgets and cut costs – to the reported disgruntlement of their cashcow creator – if the worst did happen at Paramount+, it would not take long for him to find a new home with another streamer very quickly.
