Take a trip through time with the scariest vampires, hungriest zombies, and craziest kaiju of the last century.

Helmed once again by the same creative team that unleashed the first Troll, including director Roar Uthaug, writer Espen Aukan, and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud from Motion Blur, Troll 2 will bring back several characters from the first outing, including Ine Marie Wilmann as Nora Tidemann, Kim Falck as Andreas Isaksen, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen as former captain – now major – Kristoffer Holm, with Sara Khorami and Anne Krigsvoll also joining the cast. You can check out the official synopsis for Troll 2 below, which is all set to stomp onto Netflix on December 1.

“When a dangerous new troll is awakened, unleashing devastation across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris are thrust into their most perilous mission yet. To stop the creature’s ruthless rampage, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country’s ancient history, searching for answers. As the clock ticks and the troll’s path of destruction grows wider, our heroes face impossible odds in their fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness.”

‘Troll 2’ Promises Indiana Jones-Like Adventure Amid the Monster Mayhem

Troll 2 will pick up after the events of 2022’s Troll, asking “while humanity is now more prepared, will it be enough?” Troll 2 promises to deliver even bigger spectacle and higher stakes this time around, with the streamer no doubt hoping to ape the popularity of the first outing, which became the most popular non-English language movie on the platform with 103 million views.

Returning director Roar Uthaug has teased what’s to come in the follow-up, revealing (via Variety) that the production has “definitely upped our game when it comes to the troll sequences and the sheer scale of the movie.” And while the monsters continue to prove a grave threat, “the army has also had time to prepare and create new weapons to fight these creatures.” Uthaug went on to hint at what our intrepid adventurers will get up to in the sequel as they uncover more about the mysterious beasts, describing their escapades as “almost Indiana Jones-like adventure with ancient puzzles our heroes have to solve to stop their country from falling into darkness.”

Star Ine Marie Wilmann, meanwhile, said of the sequel, “Diving into the ‘Troll’ adventure was incredibly fun the first time around, and we were absolutely amazed by its global success. It is with great respect and excitement that I embarked on creating the sequel. I hope and believe that people will enjoy more of what they appreciated last time. We certainly had a fantastic time making ‘Troll 2,’ and we are really looking forward to sharing it with the world.” Finally, producers Horn and Sinkerud added…

“It’s always daunting to do a sequel but we truly feel that this time, we’ve created an even better, bigger, funnier, and more adventurous film — if that’s even possible.”
