UFC champion Sean Strickland in âÂÂreal bad placeâ after ATV crash while not wearing helmet
Middleweight shows injuries to head and shoulder
Fight says friend was in hospital after crash
UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is recovering after â being involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident while not wearing â a helmet.
Strickland â said âÂÂin an Instagram video that the accident happened on Monday night in Las â Vegas.
âÂÂGuys, IâÂÂm in a real bad place,â he said. âÂÂI let my buddy âÂÂdrive, he âÂÂrolled us going, âÂÂlike, 60 (mph). We rolled like six times.âÂÂ
Strickland âÂÂshowed a scratch on his head before continuing. âÂÂThat was from my head smacking the ground, going 60, did not have a helmet on. IâÂÂm âÂÂan idiot,â he said.
Strickland then showed a scratch on his âÂÂshoulder. âÂÂThat was just from rolling and smacking the concrete and the dirt. Fuck, IâÂÂm in a real bad place â right now.âÂÂ
The fighter posted a later update in which he said he was not badly hurt. âÂÂI think IâÂÂm OK. [My friend] Chris went unconscious for a little bit, so heâÂÂs in the hospital, but I think heâÂÂs going to be alright,â he said. âÂÂHe just went asleep for a little bit, but honestly, the most fun IâÂÂve had in a very, very long time. My walletâÂÂs a little sore. Rainbet did say theyâÂÂd cover it, so that was nice. That was the most fun thing IâÂÂve done in a very long time. I hope Chris is OK, IâÂÂve never seen anybody go unconscious before, that was interesting.âÂÂ
Strickland, who has a history of making racist, sexist and homophobic comments, was involved in a motorcycle incident in 2018 that forced him into a two-year absence from the octagon.
The 35-year-old reclaimed the UFC middleweight âÂÂtitle âÂÂin May with âÂÂa split decision over Khamzat Chimaev âÂÂat âÂÂUFC 328.
