Daniel Jones will remain the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback for this Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, coach Shane Steichen announced Monday.
Steichen had left open the possibility of a change at the position when he said after the Colts' 42-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday that he was "going to evaluate everything, every position going forward."
Jones was pulled with 11:53 remaining and the Colts down 35 points. He finished the game 19-of-28 for 144 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Backup Anthony Richardson Sr., the No. 4 draft pick by the Colts in 2023, finished the game, completing his two pass attempts for 8 yards.
Jones was re-signed in the spring to be the Colts' unquestioned starter after a career-best run to start 2025. He sustained a ruptured Achilles last season and spent the offseason rehabbing before returning for Week 1.
But it has been a struggle. Jones has the second-lowest QBR of his career (39.5) and is posting his worst completion rate (60.4%).
Sunday's loss dropped the Colts to 2-6 on the season.
