Sources: Rams' Garrett on track for return vs. Commanders (0:50)

Los Angeles Rams star pass rusher Myles Garrett is on track to be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game at the Washington Commanders, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo on Friday.

Garrett has been on injured reserve since having arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-September after he played in the Rams' season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.

He returned to practice this week, though coach Sean McVay said Monday that he did not want to put a timeline on when Garrett would be able to play in a game.

After Week 1, Garrett had said he was not 100% healthy after dealing with knee irritation that kept him out for most of training camp.

The Rams traded for Garrett this offseason, sending two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks, including a first-round selection in 2027, to the Cleveland Browns. Garrett was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2025 after setting the single-season sack record with 23 for the Browns.

By pairing Garrett with the unretired Aaron Donald, the Rams had hoped to have a fearsome pass rushing attack, but they rank tied for 26th in the NFL this season with 12 sacks.
