The Seattle Seahawks are signing running back Joe Mixon after he worked out for the team Monday, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The Houston Texans released Mixon in March after he missed the entire 2025 season because of a foot injury. In 2024, Mixon rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning him Pro Bowl honors in his first season with the Texans.
He joins the Seahawks after they placed rookie first-round running back Jadarian Price on injured reserve Saturday because of a chest injury. He will miss at least the next three games.
Emanuel Wilson and George Holani currently top the Seahawks' depth chart, with Zach Charbonnet also nearing a return from the physically unable to perform list. Velus Jones Jr., who was signed by the Seahawks off their practice squad Saturday, is currently the third running back.
On Sunday, in a 30-23 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Wilson took advantage of his opportunity by catching a touchdown pass and running for another score. He rushed for 81 yards on 21 carries and caught three passes for 39 yards.
Mixon, 30, spent his first seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, who selected him in the second round of the 2017 draft. A two-time Pro Bowler, he has rushed for 7,428 yards and 60 touchdowns and has 2,448 receiving yards and 14 touchdown catches in his career.
