Pennsylvania woman allegedly kills husband and son before attempting suicide at resort
Police arrested Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, after reports of a âÂÂdistressed femaleâ at the Great Wolf Lodge resort
A Pennsylvania woman allegedly killed her husband and her three-year-old son at a resort in the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania this week before attempting suicide, according to local officials.
Pocono Township police responded to reports of a âÂÂdistressed femaleâ at the Great Wolf Lodge resort, with the woman, identified as 27-year old Metallica Rose Harrison of Towanda, Pennsylvania, by police.
According to a criminal complaint reviewed by local outlets, Harrison allegedly told police she âÂÂwanted to be with her husband and sonâÂÂ, who were both found dead in the room with stab wounds to their chests. Her husband has been identified as Charles Harrison in the criminal complaint. Her son was identified only as âÂÂTH.âÂÂ
Investigators found a butcherâÂÂs knife and smaller knife on the premises.
Harrison had cuts on her left wrist and neck and was taken to a local hospital, allegedly saying, according to the complaint: âÂÂEvery day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasnâÂÂt supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. ThatâÂÂs what I envisioned since I was a child.âÂÂ
The family had checked in to the resort on 21 September and were scheduled to check out on Tuesday, the complaint said.
She has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide.
âÂÂThis case is an isolated domestic tragedy and there is no threat to the community,â Pocono Township police said.
In a statement to the Guardian, the resort said: âÂÂWe are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains. It was an isolated family incident, and weâÂÂre cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected.âÂÂ
