Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet (3350) has expanded its Bitcoin treasury with the acquisition of 518 Bitcoin, purchased at an average price of $118,519 per coin.
The transaction totals roughly $61 million, according to a statement the company shared on X.

With this latest addition, Metaplanet now controls approximately 18,113 Bitcoin, the sixth-largest corporate Bitcoin reserve globally, worth about $1.85 billion at current market prices.
The firm’s cumulative acquisition cost stands at an average of $101,911 per Bitcoin.
Metaplanet also released updated performance data tied to its Bitcoin strategy.
Between July 1st and August 12th, the company’s BTC Yield was 26.5%, a measure it uses to assess the growth of Bitcoin holdings relative to fully diluted shares outstanding.
Historical figures show sharp swings: 41.7% in Q3 2024, a surge to 309.8% by year-end, a decline to 95.6% in Q1 2025, and a rebound to 129.4% in Q2.
These metrics, alongside BTC Gain, are used to evaluate how Bitcoin acquisitions enhance shareholder value.
