HBO went on a green-lighting spree Thursday, Nov. 20th, announcing renewals for multiple series. Perhaps the most exciting for those who like to make things weird: The Tim Robinson-starring The Chair Company, created by Robinson and Zach Kanin, has been renewed for a second season, meaning that the mystery Ron Trosper is trying to solve in the first season may go deeper than we realize.
Additionally, the Mark Ruffalo-starring drama series Task and Rachel Sennett-starring comedy I Love L.A. were both given second seasons — revealing that the former wasn’t quite the limited series we thought it was when it premiered this fall. (While the case featured in the first season was wrapped up conclusively, there’s still plenty of story to tell when it comes to the emotional grief of Ruffalo’s character.)
And in advance of its series premiere this January, Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was granted a second season, while House of the Dragon, set to launch its third season in summer 2026, got confirmed for a fourth season to launch in 2028. No word yet on a potential True Detective Season 5 starring Nicolas Cage, but the dream is still alive.
