Creed Plan to “Start Working” on New Music in 2026 – 8881199.XYZ

Guitarist Mark Tremonti has offered an update on new music from Creed, who haven’t released any material since 2009, despite reuniting in 2023.

In a new interview with “Cutter’s Rockcast,” Tremonti said Creed want to keep touring following their highly successful reunion runs, but need some fresh songs to add to their setlists.

“When we did all this touring [over the past couple of years], we were so busy that there was no way for us to really put new music together,” he said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “And the tour was already on sale, so to jump off tour to record an album wouldn’t have been the right move. But now that we have all the time going forward, I think promoters and agents and managers are all, like, ‘All right, you gotta have something, a driver for the next tour. You can’t just go out and do the same thing. So there’s either gotta be some incredible package you put together or new music.’”

The guitarist added, “So, I’ve been working real hard on trying to put together new ideas so I can get together with [singer] Scott [Stapp] and start working. But, it would probably have to be the middle of next year before we start doing that.”

The topic of new Creed songs has come up frequently since the band reunited, with Tremonti telling Vanyaland in 2024 that he has “literally thousands” of riffs stockpiled. In a separate chat with Guitar Interactive around that same time, Tremonti noted that “it’d be good to try to get back to that original sound a little more” when Creed does work on new music, as compared to 2009’s Full Circle, their last album.

The creative hangups with Creed appear to be purely logistical, as Tremonti certainly hasn’t suffered from writer’s block, churning out multiple albums with his eponymous solo band and his other major rock project, Alter Bridge, in the intervening years. Stapp, meanwhile, has released a number of solo albums, including a 2024 LP titled Higher Power.

In the meantime, Creed still have live gigs on the books, including their “Creedmas” holiday shows in December. And after that, Tremonti and Alter Bridge will hit the road for a US tour in January in support of their upcoming self-titled eighth album, arriving January 9th.
