Season 2 of Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Michelle Randolph, Ali Larter, and Demi Moore, premieres exclusively on Paramount+ on November 16, 2025, with new episodes released weekly through January 18, 2026. It’s been less than a year since Season 1 ended, and the latest season promises to be just as cutthroat as the first.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman was inspired by the podcast Boomtown, which Wallace hosted. Just like Boomtown, Landman focuses on “a rugged corner of West Texas, [where] billionaire wildcatters and roughnecks are fueling an oil boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.”
Landman‘s second season will continue in that same vein, focusing on Tommy Norris (Thornton) and his attempts to balance the interests of M-Tex Oil executives and shareholders with those of the men doing the actual work in the oil fields. Here’s how you can watch Season 2 of Landman.
Just Like the First Season of ‘Landman,’ Season 2 Will Include 10 Episodes
Landman debuted on November 17, 2024, and laid the foundation for the show to become the most-viewed on Paramount+ in its first month. Over the course of Season 1, Landman viewership remained strong through the finale in January 2025.
It has been confirmed that Season 2 of Landman will have 10 episodes, though there are changes in who’s calling the shots behind the scenes. According to Ali Larter, who plays Tommy Norris’s ex-wife Angela, co-creator Stephen Kay will direct all 10 episodes this season. In contrast, Taylor Sheridan did not direct any, though he remained involved as writer and showrunner. She explained,
“[Stephen Kay] is directing all 10 episodes this year. Last year, Michael Friedman directed three; Stephen directed, I think, five; and Taylor directed a couple. That being said, Taylor would come in and direct all my stuff because he loves forming these characters and he wants them big and bold.”
Sheridan directed the first two episodes of Season 1, while Kay directed six and Friedman two. Sheridan wrote all 10 episodes of Season 1 and is again credited as the principal writer for Season 2.
The cadence of Season 1’s 10-episode arc will likely be repeated for Landman’s second season. Now that Paramount+ has announced the premiere date and subsequent episode schedule, here’s what that looks like, along with the plot outline for each episode, as per IMDb.

‘Landman’ Will Feature New Faces, Including a Taylor Sheridan Veteran
When Season 1 of Landman ended, Tommy saw his friend and boss, CEO Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), die, after which he took over leadership of the oil corporation. Monty’s wife, Cami (Demi Moore), put her trust in Tommy to continue the work of her business executive husband. Hamm won’t be back for Season 2 of Landman, but Moore will return.
Jon Hamm is not returning, but Sam Elliott will be portraying Tommy Norris’s father. Elliott previously worked with Taylor Sheridan on 1883, which also aired on Paramount+. The opportunity to see Billy Bob Thornton and Elliott together is intriguing, to say the least. Thornton previously had a cameo in 1883, where he interacted with Elliott, and the pair also appeared together in Tombstone.
According to Thornton, “[Elliott] has always been a mentor and a hero of mine… I love the guy, we have a real special relationship in real life… It’s so good to see him; he lights my day up.” In addition to Elliott, Stefania Spampinato plays the wife of drug cartel leader Galino (Andy Garcia).
‘Landman’ Will Venture Into New Territory, Literally, in Season 2
Although there aren’t many details about where the story is headed in Landman‘s second season, filming took place in both Texas and Oklahoma. This could mean a business deal with oil tycoons to the north.
Elliott’s character has been identified as Tommy’s father, though fans continue to speculate that his presence will shift Tommy’s responsibilities at M-Tex Oil. This would mean more boardroom scenes for Thornton and that Norris would be dealing with bullies of a different sort. Don’t worry about the dress code, however, because Thornton had this to say about such a transition:
“[Tommy] probably doesn’t want to, but he knows he has to. I think he owes a debt to his old friend and boss, because that’s what he wanted. And I think also, just because of his knowledge of the business, he knows he’s the one to do it. He does not want to put the suit on, but he knows he’s got to. And I don’t mean technically the suit (laughs) — I don’t think Tommy will ever change clothes.”
Season 2 promises more screen time for both Demi Moore and Andy Garcia, veteran actors who were used sparingly during Landman‘s first season. With respect to Moore, Jon Hamm teased that Taylor Sheridan promised her as much, telling her that the death of her husband, Monty Miller, would “be worth your while,” presumably for both her and Cami, Monty’s widow.
The recently released trailer shows a greater focus on the relationship between Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris and Sam Elliott’s character, “T.L.,” as well as Cami’s struggles to assert leadership in the company. You can watch the trailer above to build hype for the second season of Landman, which premieres on Paramount+ on November 16, 2025.
